Today is an important day..
Memorial Day
Today we Honor our Military. This has always been an important day for me but it was made more so when my son became a Marine. He will always be a Marine and I will always be a Marine Mom!
I am a Proud Mom and am grateful for the sacrifices our Military and He have made for my Freedom!
This says it all...
I wrote out the 'because of the' but the 'FREEDOM' and the 'BRAVE' are from a retiring stamp set, Words of Courage.
Using the 'NEW" Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, these stars are the perfect size.
Curling the 'freedom' and 'brave' so it looks as if they are waving in the wind.
Also, just using a glue dot the stars were left to curl up the edges.
How did the flag look get created...the base is Cherry Cobbler adding 3/4" strips of Whisper White and a section of Midnight Muse for the star section.
Leaving the inside simple with whisper white and midnight muse stars.
Please take the time to Thank a Service member today!
Or write a letter to a Hero, How you ask?? I will be sending a box to OWH, Operation Write Home soon and they are always looking for Hero letters to send. What is a Hero letter?? This letter goes to a member of the military who does not get any mail from home.
Contact me for more information.

Today's card is one that was cut by the e-cutter
Using Watercolor Wonder DSP, Gumball Green, and Island Indigo,
this card comes together.
Dontcha just love the way the butterfly is cut out??
The sentiment is from the retiring stamp set "Take Care". Using the Watercolor Wonder DSP and the window punch to get this look.
The Bitty Butterfly is also punched out of Watercolor Wonder DSP.
A simple Rhinestone in the middle of each.
The small butterflies were cut out by the e-cutter.
Wanted to cover a small tear, I tugged to hard on the cut out, I used another Watercolor Wonder DSP butterfly to this side.
Enjoy...

Sorry all, today is not our usual project.
The above picture looks somewhat freaky, but anyone who plants potatoes know these little gems are what is going to bring me some AMAZING red potatoes in a few months.
With my two days off this week I just HAD to work on the garden. For those that do not know I have two veggie garden spaces. Just one area, the smaller of the two, I can plant 40 tomato plants with plenty of room to walk and grow! The second is almost 3 times the size, thanks to the hubby expanding my area this year.
Here are a few more things I have been up too. Our house has a lovely wrap around porch and it is in need of rearranging. This has been on my list since the weather began to turn. The clean up and rearranging has begun... I am soooo excited!!
and more planting... a few plants matched with a few seeds this will look fantastic!!
Don't worry I have been in the craft room too...
Sandy let me come over and check out her e-cutter.
I have been thinking of adding this to my "collection" of tools. We checked out all the goodies that Stampin' Up! has for your e-cutter and were very pleasantly surprised. Thanks SU!!
Well enjoy your weekend and the beautiful weather we are supposed to have in the Midwest. Think of me while I am at work. uugghh

Sketches
Have you ever heard of other card makers using sketches?
BUT just can not figure out where to begin??
Well, here is my thoughts... from the beginning.
I love OWH sketches, there is a new one every week, they come out on Sunday.
I donate all my unused cards to them, for the soldiers. I have a badge on my sidebar.
Anyway, So, the first thing I do is pick a theme.
Continuing with my graduation theme from the weekend.
Then, I look at the shapes on the sketch, NO you do not have to be exact.
I like the three "strips" here the first thing I thought of was ribbon.
Now, what can I do with the rectangles....HUMM?? Again, the first thing that popped into my head was Apothecary accents, the long piece.
Now into the craft room I went.
Picking colors, ribbon and of course little pretties too.
Ohhhh the juices are flowing now... The sentiment was easy, I have been looking for a reason to use this one:
Here is my version.. can you see the sketch??
The new In Color ribbon became my "strips".
and the sentiment fit perfectly in the 6th from the smallest circle framelit.
The inside was just left simple with three new punch flower from the new Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.
Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey and Blackberry Bliss look just amazing together.
I do hope that this little step by step helped. Any questions just email me. I will do my best to help!

Graduation
Happy Sunday!!
Today is another Graduation card. This one has a different approach.
I know I will get some grief from a few followers because....
YES, IT HAS BUTTERFLIES!!
Have you tried mixing ribbons yet??
If not, WHY not!!
Have you every embellished your ribbon??
Why not??
The sentiments are mixed here, one retiring and one new!!
Why is a butterfly good luck if its upside down?? Someone please explain!!
To me, it is falling, I don't know.

Graduation
Here is a gift card holding gate card.
To hold your gift card, just add a 1 inch strip of cardstock. To secure that strip I used sticky strip.
You could even put cash in this pocket. Notice that even the gift card tucks in and unable to be seen from the outside.
A gate card is a simple different fold, you can off center it, going wider on either side.
For this card both sides are even, scored at 2 3/4.
The stamp used here is from Perfect Pennants, originally it said, Make a Wish. But Dream seems to fit better for graduation.
Using Gorgeous Grunge and the new Banner Punch covering the word 'Wish' was easy.
