It started with a $1

Yup, it started with $1.00.
I found this already super cute wooden birdhouse at a garage sale for just $1.00.
Humm, what can I do with this??

Here is the finish product......

Sorry for the lighting situation in this picture.
Adding a fallen branch from outside, some paper cutouts and imagination....
Wahlaa!!

Keeping the pumpkins whole (not jack-o-lanterns), I could use this for the whole fall season.

Six punches of the same cardstock folded in half and stuck together are how the pumpkins worked.

The curly tops are from the bird builder punch.

A Cardinal perched on the branch would be typical for this time of year, at least I thought so....

Hot glue worked the best for this project.  Starting with the branch to the house, all the leaves, birds and made pumpkins.

Trivia... what colors do pumpkins come in?? Yes, there are white pumpkins, green and yellow.  So think outside the box on your projects too!!

A short funny story... Apparently, I left the craft room door open, the monster kitties in my house went and decided the branch would be a great thing to chew on.  I have had to since redo this project.

Please let me know if you enjoy this, 'It started with a $1'.  I plan on posting this the 1st of the every month.

November '12

I finally was able to go to a Stampin' Up! event and I knew I wanted a good swap.

What do you think?? Want to see the inspiration for these little cutties??

Trevor came home and needed a "box" for a gift.  Here is what we came up with.

It measures 6 X 6 inches and it glowed in the dark... with the battery operated candles inside!! Sorry no picture of that.

He wanted layers on the sides

and a trap door...

the button is for easy removal of the "bottom"

an extra scrap piece of matching cardstock not completely taped in helps to hold up the above piece

So back to my swaps....  I loved how Trevor's box turned out.  I wanted to do a 3D swap for our Regional meeting in Lansing. The colors used were compos of Pretty in Pink with Raspberry Ripple, Always Artichoke and Summer Starfruit, Certainly Celery with Gumball Green and Pool Party with Midnight Muse.

This little box fits a small hand sanitizer or even a small lip gloss. I took the concept of the bigger box and modified for size, still wanting a background, flower and the soaring bird.  I changed the saying because I wanted to  Inspire someone else to try the box!

Layering the small scallop circle with two different colors added some dimension as well as some lightness to the flower.

HINT: Put a some body spray in your water bottle for an added WOW!!

For the ribbon I just tied knots on the inside with plenty of room for treasures still on the inside.

Lastly, for ease of closing and opening I trimmed the edges of the insert.

So because there are two projects here, if you wanted written instructions for either of these projects please email me.  I will include punch sized and all the colors that were used.

Thanks, I do HOPE you enjoyed today's post.
